Stray Animal Intake Fees & Services

Crossroads Animal Shelter is a private, limited-admission facility and is not an impound facility. We are not contracted to provide municipal impound services. However, we do offer services for stray cats and dogs when space, staffing, and resources allow.

All stray intakes are by appointment only and are subject to available capacity. The intake fee is $70 per stray cat or dog and $110 for litters of two or more. Wait times may vary depending on seasonal intake volume and available space.

If you are able and willing to provide temporary care for a stray animal while waiting for an appointment, Crossroads may be able to provide basic supplies, such as food, bedding, and a crate for housing, as resources allow.

Please note that Crossroads does not accept feral cats as stray intakes. We have other programs and resources available to assist with feral and community cats. Visit our website under the Vet Clinic tab for more information on programs for feral cats.

Unfortunately, some cities, counties, and townships do not provide services or funding for stray animals found within their jurisdictions. As a result, the cost of stray animal services may fall to the individual who finds the animal. If you find a stray pet, we strongly encourage you to contact the city, county, or township where the animal was found and advocate for funding and resources to address stray animals in the community. This can help ensure that the responsibility and cost of stray animal services do not fall solely on individual community members.
