At Crossroads Veterinary Clinic, your pet’s safety and comfort are our top priorities. To ensure the best possible care, we require a pre-surgical examination before scheduling any surgical or dental procedure.

During your pre-operative appointment, our veterinarians will:
🔹 Perform a thorough exam of your pet
🔹 Discuss surgical options, costs, and post-operative care (both in-clinic and at home)
🔹 Review and complete the anesthesia consent form and treatment estimate with you

If you choose to move forward, our team will help schedule your pet’s procedure.

No Pre-Op Required

To help reduce barriers to care, pets meeting certain age and weight requirements may schedule a spay or neuter without a pre-operative exam. Your pet will receive a physical examination by a veterinarian the morning of the procedure.

Rabies Vaccination

All pets scheduled for sterilization must be current on their rabies vaccination. A copy of a valid rabies certificate is required at the time of your pre-operative appointment or at check-in. If your pet is not up to date, a rabies vaccine will be administered at our current listed price on the day of the procedure.

No Pre-Op Spay/Neuter Eligibility

✅ Pets must be at least 16 weeks old
✅ Under 2 years of age
✅ Weigh at least 2 pounds
✅ Otherwise healthy, with no vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or urgent care visits within 48 hours of the scheduled procedure

Dogs with handling & behavior challenges - If you have a dog with a history of requiring specialized handling, being aggressive, highly reactive, or needing to be medicated before vet appointments in the past. You will need to make an appointment and be seen for a pre-op assessment so we can appropriately support you and your dog.

No Pre-Op Surgical Deposits

• $75 for feline sterilization

• $100 for canine sterilization

While we still recommend a pre-op visit with one of our veterinarians, we understand that both time and cost can be challenging. This option ensures more pets receive the care they need.

Deposit Refund Policy

• Deposits are credited toward your final invoice.

• Cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance (by 8:00 am the day before your appointment for surgery patients) will receive a full refund.

• If canceled with less notice, deposits may be applied to a rescheduled appointment.

On Surgery Day for All Surgical Clients

·       Drop-off is between 7:30–8:00 am

o   No pre op clients will be required to fill out anesthesia consent/surgical consent forms at the time of drop off. OWNER of the pet MUST BE PRESENT

·       Your pet will spend the day with our team

·       We’ll call you with updates and provide a pick-up time once the procedure is complete

·       Pets go home the same day – you will receive a phone call once your pet has recovered from anesthesia, and provide a 2-hour window for pick-up

·       At discharge, a surgical team member will review all post-op care instructions with you
