Overview
The Animal Care Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of animals in our care. This position involves a variety of tasks related to animal husbandry, handling, and care within our shelter setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and possess the skills necessary to provide high-quality care, can problem solve and adapt to a changing work environment, communicate well with others, and be a self-starter.

Duties

• Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring their health and behavior.

• Assist with animal restraint and handling when necessary.

• Provide daily enrichment activities to promote the physical and mental well-being of the animals.

• Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean and organized facility, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and properly stored.

• Other duties as assigned

Experience
Candidates should possess experience or knowledge in the following areas:

• Animal restraint techniques for safe handling of cats and dogs - preferred

• Familiarity with husbandry practices for optimal care. -preferred

• Experience handling dogs and cats.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Hours:

$15.00 starting

Weekdays (Monday -Thursday) & Sundays, shared/rotated holiday shifts, No evenings.
